Quote I am considering this week
“It takes a great sobriety of spirit to know your own depths — and your limits. It takes a special grandeur of spirit to know the limits of your self-knowledge” Maria Popova
Potent documentary I watched this week
The Wisdom of Trauma with Dr Gabor Mate – available here
If you are familiar with Dr Gabor’s work you already know what a luminary he is when it comes to understanding the impact of childhood trauma. This documentary is a wonderful compilation of footage sharing personal stories of navigating trauma, homelessness and addiction.
Well worth watching as a reminder that every single one of us has a unique story but we are not alone in the trauma we have been through. It is possible to heal, it is possible to live a happy and fulfilling life, there is always hope. The more people who understand trauma the greater the collective shift – so go ahead and share this powerful work if you feel called
The extra talks are also amazing – all available through the same registration link click here available for free until 20 June
and One More Thing
The Goldilocks Rule – James Clear (full article here)
The energetics around this eclipse season, new moon and retrogrades have been intense and I’ve spoken about it over the past few OMTs so this week I am changing it up a little bit! Next week I will reflect on the Full Moon in Capricorn happening on Thursday 24 June but just know it promises to feel a little more expansive and spacious than the depths of this past few weeks
So…the Goldilocks Rule…
Transformation and growth are what I live for and I’m constantly finding new pathways of understanding, transmuting and transforming energy and self
When it comes to applying that to business building and establishment I know lagging motivation and procrastination can be real issues for many of us (absolutely not immune from losing myself in the scroll or a Netflix binge…and definitely not sorry for it…we are all human!)
But if you’re feeling demotivated or you’ve been lagging for a little while, or if perhaps your business is stagnating then I encourage you to do a mini-appraisal of the tasks you are doing in your business – or life if you want to broaden the scope – in line with the Goldilocks Rule
In order for us to feel fulfilled, motivated and excited by our work we need to be working on tasks of just manageable difficulty on the perimeter of our ability
Behaviours need to stay novel in order for them to stay attractive and satisfying…why do you think Instagram loves constantly bringing out new updates? To keep you engaged and give you new small challenges to master within the app
Finding new, small behaviours that are achievable but different keep us feeling fresh in what we are doing, allow us to make progress and in turns keeps us motivated
As humans we actually love to work (dive into my YT all about this here)…we love creating – within relationships, art, food, music, ideas, buildings, technology…but we only deeply love it when we are operating in that Goldilocks space….the perimeter of our ability
So if you’re lagging a little, wallowing in procrastination or struggling to know how to revive your motivation take a moment to look at the actions you’re taking and see if you can add some more Goldilocks challenges to your day
It is an especially beautiful time for it as we in the Northern Hemisphere approach the Summer Solstice on Monday 21 June – a potent energetic moment for reflection, manifestation and connecting with the truth of our abundant natures
