Quote to remind you what’s important

“The secret, Alice, is to surround yourself with people who make your heart smile. It’s then, only then, that you’ll find Wonderland” Lewis Carroll

Podcast I loved this week

We are supported by…. Reese Witherspoon – Kristen Bell + Monica Padman on Spotify

Sometimes it’s nice to relieve ourselves of listening to, absorbing, thinking about healing, self-development and trauma….this conversation is a breath of fresh air while at the same time being an empowering conversation with a true industry leader and formidable woman in her own world. A reminder that you don’t have to be an ‘activist’ to be an activist – making change within your realm can be just as powerful and inspiring…this is the exact unexpected takeaway I received from listening to this conversation with Reese Witherspoon

She is so much more than just ‘Elle Woods’ – a wise reminder of the multi-faceted talent of so many women – and a gentle note to not put ourselves or each other in boxes

and One More Thing

You can’t rush what’s meant for you – allow things to happen in right relation to time

I set myself the goal of ‘being more patient’ 3 years in a row…it didn’t work. I did not feel more patient…in fact I felt more in a rush in year 3 then I did in year 1. So I scrapped the goal. And as if by magic, year 4 rolls around and I barely felt myself in a rush, impatience was no longer an issue

So what happened? What’s the lesson?

I stopped focusing on my impatience and desire for everything to happen more quickly and instead MATCHED my activity to my energy

Feeling impatient, rushed, wanting to go faster is a sign of trying to work beyond your capacity on things that you are not fully capable of. It’s a sign of skipping steps, or of needing help…and it erodes self-esteem

Pushing your nervous system too far out of it’s comfort zone does not promote faster growth…it forces self-sabotage

Think of the elastic band analogy….you stretch it too far and it breaks. That is what happens when you try to force the hand of time, you break

Healing takes time, your nervous system needs space to adjust…trying to force it, to make it happen faster will only hurt you

Allow things room to happen, let the magic of the quantum work within the constraints of your earthy reality

Focus on what you can do, focus on the small steps and let time take care of the rest
